Quality and Safety
We are dedicated to providing the highest standards of quality and safety in patient care.
Quality Improvement
We are committed to quality improvement through continuous monitoring of patient outcomes via data collection and analysis, which helps us identify areas for enhancement in care. Additionally, we actively seek feedback from patients and families about their experiences at our center through surveys and focus groups, allowing us to refine our services and address any concerns effectively.
Infection Control Practices
Hand Hygiene: All healthcare workers, visitors, and family members are required to adhere to strict hand hygiene protocols. This includes washing hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rubs upon entering and leaving the patient’s room. Healthcare personnel must perform a thorough two-minute scrub from elbows to fingertips using antimicrobial soap at the beginning of each shift and whenever they leave the hospital.
Visitor Screening: Visitors are screened for symptoms of communicable diseases before entering the patient’s room. Children under 10 years old are not permitted to visit bone marrow transplant patients with an absolute neutrophil count (ANC) below 500 cells/µL.

Isolation Protocols
Strict Isolation: Bone marrow transplant patients are placed in strict isolation to protect them from infections. This includes staying in a HEPA-filtered private room where air quality is controlled to reduce airborne pathogens.
Environmental Controls
HEPA Filtration: Rooms for patients are equipped with HEPA- filtration systems to ensure that the air remains free from harmful particles and pathogens.
Cleaning Protocols: Regular cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms and common areas are conducted according to established infection control policies. All surfaces are sanitized frequently to minimize contamination risks.

Central Venous Catheter (CVC) Care
Many patients need central venous catheters during their treatment, and strict protocols for insertion, maintenance, and care are followed to prevent catheter-related infections, utilizing sterile techniques. This approach has resulted in very low rates of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) and sepsis.
Rigorous Clinical Protocols
We adhere to strict clinical guidelines designed to minimize risks associated with treatment. These protocols are regularly reviewed and updated based on the latest research and best practices in pediatric hematology and oncology.
Medication Management
Our pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate medication management. This includes double-checking dosages, monitoring for potential drug interactions, and providing education on medications.
Patient Education
Hygiene Guidelines: Patients and their families receive continuous education on maintaining personal hygiene during treatment.
Signs of Infection: Families are educated on recognizing signs of infection, such as fever or unusual symptoms, and instructed on when to seek immediate medical attention.
